Who we are
OhioMedicare.org is an independent Medicare information resource for Ohio residents. We're not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. government, the federal Medicare program, the State of Ohio, or the Ohio Department of Insurance. We publish plain-English Medicare guides specifically for Ohioans — covering OPERS and STRS retiree coordination, MyCare Ohio for dual-eligibles, working past 65, and the Ohio-specific details that national Medicare sites typically miss.
Our editorial standards
Every page on this site is reviewed by licensed Medicare insurance experts and cross-checked against primary sources:
- The Federal Register (CMS rulemaking)
- CMS publications and the Medicare & You handbook
- KFF (Kaiser Family Foundation) research
- The Ohio Department of Insurance
- Ohio's public pension systems (OPERS, STRS Ohio, SERS, OP&F, HPRS) for retiree health benefit information
When CMS publishes new figures — typically each fall for the following year's premiums and deductibles — we update affected pages. The "Last updated" date at the bottom of each page reflects the most recent substantive revision.
What you'll find here
The site is organized around the questions Ohioans actually ask when they're turning 65, working past 65, helping a parent, or trying to figure out whether their OPERS or STRS retiree coverage coordinates with Medicare. Use the navigation above or jump to Medicare Basics if you're new to the topic.
About our agent referrals
When you click "Find an Agent" or "Talk to a Licensed Agent," we connect you with a licensed Medicare insurance agent — typically one in or near Ohio — who can answer questions about specific plans, run comparisons, and help you enroll if you decide to. We do not offer every plan available in your area. Currently we represent organizations which offer products in your area. The price of any specific plan is identical whether you enroll directly with the carrier, through Medicare.gov, or through any licensed agent — carriers set the price.
If you want to see every single Medicare option available to you, the official Medicare.gov Plan Finder includes them all. 1-800-MEDICARE (24/7) is the federal helpline.
What we don't do
We don't sell your information. We don't share your contact details with anyone other than the licensed agent you choose to speak with. We don't run paid ads on our site for any specific Medicare plan or carrier — every piece of editorial content reflects our independent view of how Medicare actually works in Ohio.
Corrections and feedback
If you find a factual error on this site — a wrong premium, an outdated policy, a Medicare rule we got wrong — please email us. We take corrections seriously and we'll update affected pages and add a correction note when warranted.
